Experience & Expertise

At 19 years old, James got his start working in and around municipal sewer systems, helping restore pipelines from the trenches. Today, he has more than 20 years of hands-on experience innovating and administering a variety of large diameter trenchless pipe rehabilitation and culvert repair solutions. In his dedication to discovering no-dig pipe rehabilitation technology, he has traveled overseas to identify technologies to bring back to municipal customers across the United States.

At HK, he lends his expertise and manufacturing background to introducing and expanding our trenchless pipe rehabilitation services, including proven techniques like cured in place pipe (CIPP) lining, UV pipe lining, PVC alloy, centrifugally cast concrete pipe (CCCP), epoxy coating, lateral lining and slip lining. He specializes in restoring a variety of municipal structures, ranging from storm and wastewater systems to culverts and pressurized piping systems.

Industry Certifications & Affiliations

James’ drive to innovate and solve challenging pipeline issues is demonstrated in his commitment to lifelong learning through his relationships with clients like Regional Airport Engineers, Geo Technical Engineers in the power utility industry and industry learning with the resources National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASSCO) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International). Not only is James certified in a variety of manufacturing safety protocols and techniques, he’s involved in establishing the standards used industry-wide to ensure trenchless pipe rehabilitation companies perform repairs safely and effectively.

In addition, James maintains his utility contractor license in Florida and shares insights about his specialty areas like UV pipe lining and culvert repair in Cleaner Magazine and Trenchless Technology Magazine. His ongoing can-do approach allows HK to continue expanding our trenchless pipe rehabilitation offerings for customers in Florida and throughout the U.S.

Day-To-Day At HK

As HK’s director of large diameter pipe services, James supports, trains and enforces industry best practices and safety standards for our team to provide a variety of advanced underground construction methods. His guidance and leadership allow us to diagnose a variety of pipe problems using our CCTV sewer inspection cameras to provide a thorough view of pipe condition in real time. We are then able to tailor trenchless pipe rehabilitation solutions to each project’s unique challenges. No project is too big or small for HK to take on with James leading the way in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions for our municipal partners. He enjoys exceeding expectations and building lasting relationships with our customers based on trust and mutual success.

Outside The Office

When he’s not exploring the inner workings of failing sewer systems, James spends the majority of his time outdoors, coaching baseball, fishing, boating, golfing and surfing. He also enjoys quality time with his family, which includes his wife, three sons and three dogs.
